The story

Recognising what
a home could become.

Sometimes, the most rewarding building projects aren't about creating something entirely new. They're about recognising what an existing home could become.

In the Suffolk village of Reydon, just inland from Southwold, this residential bungalow offered an opportunity to create additional living space while retaining the familiar character of the original property.

The aim was straightforward: to make better use of the home, improve how the rooms connected and create spaces that would feel comfortable and welcoming for years to come.

Building on what was already there

Connecting
old and new.

Extending an established property involves more than simply adding new walls.

The project began with careful ground preparation and the construction of new foundations, followed by the structural alterations needed to connect the extension with the existing bungalow.

New blockwork, structural openings and the subsequent building work gradually brought the additional accommodation together.

Throughout the project, attention was given to how the new construction would sit alongside the original property, particularly the external brickwork and roofline.

Making the spaces feel like home

Light, warmth
and individual details.

Inside, the finished rooms combine simple, practical design with a few carefully chosen details that give the home its own character.

Light walls, warm timber-effect flooring and oak internal doors create a consistent, welcoming appearance.

The entrance area is particularly attractive, with a rooflight introducing natural daylight from above and a trio of glass pendant lights providing a distinctive finishing touch.

The bathroom takes a slightly different direction, pairing deep green cabinetry with patterned tiles and crisp white fittings. It's a relatively modest space, but one with plenty of personality.

These details help make the additional accommodation feel like a natural part of the home rather than something added as an afterthought.

A home ready for its next chapter

More comfortable.
More room to live.

The completed project demonstrates what can be achieved by thoughtfully extending and improving an existing property.

From the initial excavation and structural work through to the final finishes, each stage contributes to the same outcome: a home that is more practical, more comfortable and better suited to the people living in it.

For us, that’s what a successful building project should be about.

Not simply adding square footage, but helping people make more of the homes they already love.
